Profile

The Partij voor de Dieren is running in Hilversum and Wijdemeren for the first time and wants to be the "dark green voice" on the council (p. 2). The programme calls for an alderman for animal welfare, more nature and trees, less room for the car and a climate-neutral municipality by 2030. Housing must be affordable, with at least 40% social rent (p. 12).

Key positions

Summarised from the election programme. Click the page number to read the passage itself (in Dutch).

Climate

  • Hilversum-Wijdemeren climate-neutral by 2030, with an insulation offensive in which residents get help. p. 4

Energy

  • Go all out for solar panels on roofs; solar parks are not placed in nature. No heat networks running on residual heat from the livestock industry. p. 4

Animals

  • An alderman for Animal Rights & Animal Welfare, and taking the interests of animals into account in every new policy. p. 6
  • No hunting on municipal land and no activities with animals for entertainment. The municipality itself uses no pesticides. p. 6

Nature

  • A felling permit from a trunk circumference of just 10 centimetres, a city park in the centre of Hilversum and a green standard for the whole built environment. p. 8
  • Quiet zones in nature where people do not go. It would be good if Hilversum airfield closed. p. 8

Economy

  • No more advertising in public space, except from the government, culture and charities. Advertising for animal products, fossil fuels, gambling and alcohol disappears first. p. 10

Housing

  • At least 40% social rent, and measures against speculation and vacancy, such as an owner-occupancy requirement and a fine for long-term vacancy. p. 12

Asylum

  • A fair share in the reception of refugees, on a small scale. p. 14

Traffic

  • No new on-street parking spaces, cars kept out of the centre and the village cores as much as possible, and free public transport for at least people on a low income. p. 16

Culture

  • More budget for arts, culture and heritage, and enough libraries. p. 20

Privacy

  • Very cautious about camera surveillance, and no cameras with facial recognition. p. 22

How we find this out

We compare each name with the Electoral Council’s candidate lists for Hilversum and Wijdemeren (2010–2022) and with the names recorded at council votes (Hilversum since 9 September 2020, Wijdemeren since 30 January 2014). For council membership before we have votes with names, we count from the election at which the person was elected. Aldermen are not councillors. We match on name; where in doubt, we checked the records ourselves. Spotted a mistake? Email contact@stemgidshilversum.nl.
